Frecciarossa, Freccibianca, Intercity day, Eurocity Italy-Switzerland (restricted to the internal route), Intercity Night, and regional trains tickets are now nominative and non-transferable. We remind you that you must be in posession of a valid identity document along with the ticket at the checkpoint.
The name can be changed on tickets of Frecciarossa, Frecciabianca, Intercity day, Intercity night, and Eurocity Italy-Switzerland (limited to the domestic route). It is necessary to make the request:
- online.
- at the ticket offices or authorized travel agencies.
- through self-service ticket offices, with the exception of travel solutions consisting of several trains in conjunction.
- by telephone at the Trenitalia Call Centre.
- at the Customer Service and Frecciadesk points.
The name cannot be changed on regional train tickets.
If the ticket was purchased by adding the CartaFRECCIA, the ticket can only be used by the cardholder.
If you simply made an obvious spelling error, you shouldn't be too concerned. Bring your ID and explain the error to the ticket inspector; it is still up to them whether to accept your ticket, but if it is clear that you are the intended traveller, you should be fine.
If your passport or ID is in your maiden name but your ticket is in your married name, simply bring a copy of your marriage certificate with you when you travel. There is no need to change your reservation or notify us in advance.
If someone else wants to travel, they must purchase a new ticket.
